Recess SMS Integration

A participant books a class while the front desk is helping someone else, and the confirmation still needs to reach them quickly. Recess can start a Zap when a participant books a class, purchases a membership, or cancels a class booking. Mobile Message can send the customer a plain text confirmation or update.

Use Participant Booked Class for a useful booking message with the class name, time and arrival instructions. User Purchased Membership can trigger a welcome text that explains what happens next. If a participant cancels a class booking, the same approach can acknowledge the cancellation and reduce uncertainty. User Membership Expired can also prompt a renewal reminder, helping staff contact members before the issue becomes a service complaint.

The connection runs through Zapier and uses Recess events with Mobile Message actions. Recess has no listed actions for a workflow that updates its records from an incoming SMS, so this page focuses on messages started by activity in Recess. Map the member’s mobile number and relevant booking details, then keep the wording clear and concise. Test the Zap with a sample member before switching it on, particularly if classes are created in bulk. This gives gyms and studios a reliable way to keep participants informed without manually sending every routine message.
