Teams that run projects in Basecamp often need to alert people who are not watching every project update. A New Project or New Schedule Entry event can start a Zapier workflow that sends a plain-text SMS through Mobile Message. That can notify a client about a project start, remind a contractor about a scheduled activity or alert a manager when a new work item appears.

Basecamp also provides New Message, New Comment and To-Do Completed/Uncompleted triggers. These can send a targeted text when a customer-facing update is posted or an important task changes status. If an incoming SMS should create a follow-up inside Basecamp, Mobile Message's Inbound SMS Received trigger can run Create To-Do or Create Message. That gives staff a visible record to act on, rather than leaving the response in a separate inbox.

The connection works through Zapier. Select the Basecamp project, map the relevant text and recipient details, and test the workflow before it goes live. Each Zap has a defined starting event and a single action, so you can keep notifications focused.
