About the WhatsApp Business integration
The reverse workflow is useful too. Mobile Message's Inbound SMS Received trigger can start WhatsApp Business's Send Template Message or Send Freeform Message action, so an incoming SMS can be answered in the WhatsApp workspace. Freeform messages are subject to WhatsApp's stated 24-hour messaging window, while templates follow WhatsApp's own requirements. Send Media Message is available in WhatsApp Business, but this page only describes text workflows through Mobile Message.
These are separate Zapier automations, not a native two-way conversation sync. Both accounts are required. Test phone formats, message timing and the channel rules before enabling the workflow, especially when a customer may receive contact through both WhatsApp and SMS.

- Message Status Updated — Triggers when a message you sent changes status (sent, delivered, read, or failed).
- New Message Received — Triggers when a customer sends a message to your WhatsApp Business phone number. Note: the test step shows a static placeholder record because WhatsApp's API does not expose message history. Real messages will only appear in Zap runs after the Zap is turned on and a customer sends a new message.

Can WhatsApp Business messages trigger Mobile Message SMS?
Yes. New Message Received can start Mobile Message's Send SMS action through Zapier. Message Status Updated can also trigger a notification, although the text should explain the status clearly and should not imply a WhatsApp conversation has been synchronised.
Can an incoming Mobile Message SMS receive a WhatsApp reply?
Yes. Inbound SMS Received can trigger WhatsApp Business's Send Template Message or Send Freeform Message. Freeform messaging is limited by WhatsApp's stated 24-hour window, while templates must meet WhatsApp requirements.
How do I set up WhatsApp Business with Mobile Message?
