Okta SMS Integration

Yes - Mobile Message does integrate with Okta!

Operators who rely on Okta often need a dependable way to notify people when access changes. A new Okta event can start a Zap that sends an SMS through Mobile Message, giving a user or administrator a timely plain-text alert. This can sit alongside Okta's access controls without asking staff to monitor another screen.

Okta provides one trigger, New Event, and actions such as Deactivate User, Suspend User, Activate User and Add User to Group. The useful direction for Mobile Message is from Okta into SMS. An Okta event can send an alert, create a contact or add a number to a Mobile Message list, depending on the information available in the event. The connection runs through Zapier, and each workflow handles a defined event and response rather than synchronising the two accounts.

A Zapier account and subscription is required for this integration.
Please view Zapier's pricing page for further information.

Okta + SMS: common questions

Can Okta send an SMS for a new event?

Yes. Okta's New Event trigger can start a Zap and Mobile Message's Send SMS action can deliver the alert. The message can use fields supplied by the Okta event, subject to the data available in your test record.

Can Mobile Message deactivate an Okta user?

No. Mobile Message triggers are Inbound SMS Received and Delivery Status Updated, and neither can perform Okta's Deactivate User action as a documented customer workflow. Okta access actions can be used in other Zapier flows where their trigger data is available.

How do I set up Okta SMS alerts with Mobile Message?

Create the Zap in Zapier with no code. You will need Okta and Mobile Message accounts, then authorise both, choose New Event and select a Mobile Message action. Test the event and message fields before publishing the workflow.
