The moment a customer uploads a photo of a receipt, an ID or a filled in form is often where an SMS automation stalls, because the text sitting inside that image is not something Mobile Message can read on its own, no matter how the rest of the Zap is built.

OCR Web Service sits in the middle of a Zap and pulls the text out of that scanned file first. Extract Text From Image File or Convert File and Extract Text can turn a photographed document into plain text mid Zap, before Mobile Message ever sees it, and Convert Image File can turn the same upload into an editable format for a record if the wording needs checking or filing away later on.

Paired with a form platform, a Google Forms response or a Typeform entry carrying an uploaded image can run through OCR Web Service and finish with a Mobile Message text confirming the details were received. The flow only moves in one direction, from the form to the extraction step to the phone, and nothing about the original image is ever texted, only the words pulled out of it reach the message.
