An outage begins during a busy service window, and customers may hear about it from support before they see an official update. Instatus can send a prompt SMS when a new incident is created or an existing incident is updated. That gives a selected group a direct notice while your status page and internal response continue separately.

Through Zapier, Instatus’s New Incident or Incident Update trigger can run Mobile Message’s Send SMS, Send SMS to List, Create Contact or Add Contact to List actions. A new incident might alert an operations lead, while an update can notify customers who have opted into service messages. Map the incident title, status and update text into the SMS fields available in the Zap.

Mobile Message can also trigger Instatus’s Create Incident action when an inbound SMS is received. For example, a monitored phone number could receive a text from an authorised team member and create an incident in the chosen Instatus project. This is a configured one-way workflow through Zapier, not shared incident synchronisation, so use filters and test carefully.
