About the Atlassian MCP integration

Support and engineering teams can spend too long watching Jira for new issues that need an immediate response. A Zapier workflow can use New Jira Issue or Updated Jira Issue to send a plain-text SMS through Mobile Message to an on-call person or service owner.

The message can include the issue summary, priority, assignee and other available fields, so urgent work is visible outside Jira. In the other direction, an inbound SMS can add a comment to a Jira issue when the issue reference and comment content are available in the Zap. Mobile Message can also notify staff after a Jira change, but it does not update Jira unless a Mobile Message trigger is paired with one of the supplied Jira actions. The connection runs through Zapier and joins selected events, rather than creating a native two-way integration.
