A marketing operator sees a new SmartEngage subscriber enter an audience, but the person may need a prompt confirmation through another channel. Checking tags and subscriber records manually before sending a text takes time and can leave new contacts waiting. A defined trigger can turn that moment into a practical SMS follow-up.

Using Zapier, SmartEngage can start Mobile Message when a new subscriber is created, a subscriber tag is added or a custom field is updated. Mobile Message can send an SMS, create a contact or add a contact to a list. SmartEngage remains responsible for email, Facebook Messenger and web push activity, while Mobile Message handles plain text delivery. These workflows are one-directional, so a SmartEngage event launches the selected Mobile Message action rather than implying that subscriber data synchronises in both directions.

For example, New Subscriber can send a welcome text, while New Subscriber Tag can place a known audience member into an SMS list. Choose the event that represents genuine consent and map the available phone number and personalisation fields in Zapier. Keep the message relevant to the audience rule that started the Zap.
