About the Captions integration

A social media editor finishes cutting a client's product video and it still needs captions on before it can go anywhere, a job that usually means opening a second app, waiting on the export, and then remembering to let the client know it is finally done.

Captions itself only adds captions to a video and has no way to start or finish a Zap on its own, so pairing it with Mobile Message is less about a direct connection and more about giving it a place inside a longer workflow. Add Captions can sit in the same Zap as a Mobile Message action such as Send SMS, so once a video has been captioned a text can go out straight away to let a client know their edit is ready to review, without anyone chasing the file down by hand or drafting the same update message twice for every project that comes through.

Can Captions send a text message when a video is done?

Captions does not have a trigger of its own, so it cannot start a Zap. It can sit inside a Zap as the Add Captions step though, with a separate Mobile Message action such as Send SMS added afterwards to text someone once the video is ready.

Does Captions work directly with Mobile Message?

Not directly. Captions only offers Add Captions as an action, so it needs another app's event to start the Zap, with Mobile Message's Send SMS added as a later step to notify someone once captioning is finished.

How would I combine Captions with Mobile Message in a Zap?

Through Zapier, with no coding. You would need a Captions account and a Mobile Message account, then build a Zap that starts elsewhere, runs Add Captions in the middle, and finishes with a Mobile Message action such as Send SMS.
